Let’s Learn How to Sort Garbage Properly On Campus With Sorty (Short Comics)!
Written by Hinako Naganuma, Sustainability Committee member
In my last blog post, I recommended shifting from single-use to reusable items. But when you do get single-use containers, sort them out properly!
UBC is aiming to halve its waste by 2030, but it would not be achieved if we put garbage in the wrong bins and disturb recycling processes. You might say “Well, I get it. But I don’t know where to put my garbage. It looks complicated”. To be honest, I was also the one who was overwhelmed by garbage sorting until I learned it was not that tricky once I gained some knowledge about garbage sorting through volunteering (if you are interested in waste management volunteering on campus, check out Zero Waste Squad). Based on my experience and additional research, I drew a short comic about how to properly sort garbage on campus.
I hope the comic helped you to learn some tips for proper garbage sorting! If you want to know more about garbage sorting, check out the following handy websites. They will tell you how a specific item should be sorted.
